Passionate about music, Cari Burdett, Director of Lila Music Centre, weaves a musical journey through studies, performance, improvisation, and teaching.

STUDIES: With over sixteen years of professional music training, Cari holds a Bachelor of Music in Opera Performance from McGill University and a Master’s degree in Voice Performance from the Royal Academy of Music, London. Her unique Master’s program, in collaboration with composers, led to premiering new works.

PERFORMANCE: As a compelling mezzo-soprano, Cari captivates audiences with her dynamic energy and brilliant voice. From contemporary opera to early music, her performances have earned acclaim worldwide.

IMPROVISATION: Cari’s musical life includes six years of training with master teacher Par Ahlbom in Sweden and advanced improvisation studies with Rhiannon in Hawaii, enriching her musical vision and practice.

TEACHING: Co-founder of Lila Music, Cari, along with her husband Massimo, teaches voice and guitar, leads choirs, conducts workshops, and fosters musical exploration in North America and Europe.

MAIN TEACHERS: Cari’s diverse education includes guidance from esteemed mentors like Nancy Argenta and Rhiannon.

EDUCATION: Cari’s educational journey spans prestigious institutions such as McGill University and the Royal Academy of Music, along with ongoing intuitive pedagogy training and advanced vocal improvisation courses.
