My background includes training in group facilitation, somatic
practices, bodywork, community conflict work, and non-profit
governance. As well as decades in men’s circles, I have also run
a group home and been a tow truck driver.
I support men on the gentle (and sometimes fierce) journey of
self-acceptance so that we can better serve the well-being of
our loved ones and the earth from a foundation of real care for
ourselves. Curiosity and gratitude together with a deep respect
and empathy for the experience of others, supports me in
helping create and sustain group spaces in which everyone’s
truth is welcome and can be safely held. I listen to the wisdom
of our hearts and bodies as intelligent guides.
Dancing, climbing, cold rivers and wet forests are how I
recharge and settle. As a father, divorcee, partner and friend to
a menagerie of animals and a few humans, my life is filled with
opportunities, challenges and gratitude.
Penny Fenske MA, RCC (ACS-provisional)
Working in private practice since 2009, in Victoria and recently
on Salt Spring Island, I offer counselling from an attachment
perspective that is emotion focused and body-based. My
education, research, and practice have focused
understanding deeply and responding compassionately while
supporting resilience in those who have experienced trauma
and relationship ruptures. When I facilitate circles, I lean on my
advanced AEDP training, in-depth group facilitation training,
attunement, somatic resonance, intuition and curiosity to
offer questions, prompts, or reflection to deepen your process
and connection to yourself and others.
When I am not engaged with my work, you will find me in my
sanctuary, the forest. I love to hike the forests, mountains, and
ocean trails with Atlas, my adopted miniature poodle/co-
therapist; tend my permaculture food forest; restore the forest
on the land where I live; split wood; do yin yoga; listen to music
that moves my soul; dance; and share time with friends and
family.
As I hold space for you, I will receive every aspect of you and
your journey with authenticity, warmth, empathy, and dignity.

One-Day Summer Backyard Session: Village Day
Join us for an unforgettable day in nature, where families of all ages can come together to connect with each other, the land, and the rhythms of the earth. Village Day is a chance to experience the heart of community-building through our Day Long Nature Programs, rooted in Coyote Mentoring, 8 Shields teachings, and Jon Young’s principles of nature connection.
Our experienced, passionate mentors—certified in Wilderness First Aid—are dedicated to nurturing a sense of belonging, connection, and community. This special day is designed to offer a rich experience of village-building through hands-on crafting, storytelling, games, and nature connection.
What to Expect:
Crafting with Wool: Dive into the art of felting, a simple yet powerful craft that connects us to nature’s rhythms. We’ll be making bags and other beautiful treasures—perfect for families of all ages. This mindful process fosters a deep connection to the materials, creating something lasting and meaningful together.
Nature Connection: Through games, songs, stories, and nature-based activities, we will strengthen our bond with the land and each other. This is a day to rediscover a sense of belonging, building relationships not only with your family but also with the wider community of nature and spirit.
Village Building: Emphasizing inclusivity and connection, our mentors will guide you through exercises that promote a deeper sense of belonging in the natural world. Village Day is all about nurturing relationships, whether they are with your fellow participants, the landscape, or the ancient traditions of nature connection.
A Celebration of Community: The whole family is welcome! This event is designed to welcome all ages, ensuring that everyone feels a sense of inclusion, warmth, and belonging. We believe that villages thrive when everyone—young and old—plays a part in the shared experience.
A Great Opportunity for Parents: This is a fantastic way for parents to experience what a day in our Youth Nature Programs looks like. You’ll gain insight into how we run our nature-based programs, engage with the land, and build meaningful connections with the community. It’s a chance for you to experience the same joy and growth your children will experience in our programs.
Come celebrate Village Day with us, a day of community, creativity, and connection. Whether it’s through crafting, playing, or sharing stories, you’ll leave feeling more connected to the land, to each other, and to the village we’re creating together.

Cari Burdett Music
2016 Winner, Vocalist of the Year, VIMA
2015 WCMA Nomination, World Album of the Year
‘Burdett’ style fuses jazz from the 40’s to art song and gypsy blending songs effortlessly in five languages that tap into deep veins of emotion.
British Columbia chanteuse, Cari Burdett, performs a timeless, genre-defying,
european fusion of opera, folk, jazz and world music. Burdett cites Edith Piaf, Joni Mitchell, Lhasa De Sela, Nina Simone, Maureen Forrester, Mecedes Sosa, Rhiannon Giddens as inuences. Her live show is musically moving from language to language, features her original compositions and sensual songs that express the vulnerable heart. The show is theatrical, virtuosic and at times impromptu.
