About

This year’s Winter Solstice Concert is ready for another wonderful event. A family tradition, we are thrilled to offer this very special musical experience and hope you, your family and friends will be able to join us in celebrating the return of the light.

This year’s ensemble includes Anne Schaefer (Voice, Guitar, Piano), Quin Etheridge-Pedden  from theUnfaithful Servants (violin, vocals), Adrian Dolan from The Bills (piano, accordion, vocals, and guitar), Scott White (bass, vocals), Kim June Johnson (Voice, Banjoo, Piano, Guitar) and Cari Burdett (vocals).

Cari Burdett presents her sell-out Winter Solstice Music Concert for its 9th year, enjoyment for all ages. This yearly musical tradition weaves acoustic and vocal music that ranges from jazz to folk, including new arrangements, providing warmth and peace on the longest night of the year. In the spirit of cabaret and combining music from around the world (plus a dash of vocal improvisation), this show is sure to please.

Unique to this concert, musicians will collect holiday wishes from the audience and create one-of-a-kind pieces of music, to honor this very special time of year. “Every year we offer an array of songs connecting us to different Winter Solstice traditions around the world, and 2024 will not disappoint!” explains Burdett.

Throughout the evening, the audience are invited to join in and sing along. The exuberant close to the evening will be a hand-clapping-sing-along of “This Little Light of Mine.”

This concert has become a cherished tradition, offering two shows; 2:30 pm and 7pm on SATURDAY December 21th at the St. Peter Quamichan in Duncan, and one matinee show in Victoria at 2:30pm on Sunday December 22th, at the James Bay United Church in James Bay.

In addition to the concert, we will also be fundraising for a new society called Arts Based Community Discovery/ ABCD, which focuses on supporting our relationships in the valley through Arts and Nature Connection.

Don’t miss out on this amazing concert. We look forward to seeing you there.
