Weaving and Bringing it together in an embodied and ceremonial space, we will stand at our threshold of the questions we seek answers to and go into the wild for a solo quest, bringing with us the previous sessions crafts, animal and plant allies and go into deep listening on the land.
Returning to a sacred holding and witnessing of each participant in celebration of the becoming, the accepting, the surrendering, the awakening, the letting go, the renewal, the mystery, the magic.

About the Artist
Sulsameethl Deb George – My name is Sulsameethl and my English name is Deb George, and have lived in the Cowichan Valley my whole life. I’m of mixed ancestry, Cowichan, Scottish and English and believe that has given me a unique lens to see the world through. I am an educator, an artist and a social justice activist.
Sulsa’meethl is also an expert weaver. For her, weaving is a family activity, from the harvesting of cedar to the preparation of the bark for weaving. The experience of weaving is more than creating an object, it has been about the transfer of cultural knowledge between generations and shared with audiences eager to learn.
It is about connecting with the land. Sulsameethl has led workshops on cedar weaving for diverse audiences and made regalia for cultural ceremony including regalia for Quw’utsun Elders who participate in annual Elders’ gatherings.

Event Details
Stephanie’s gatherings are a deep dive into the hidden layers of knowledge and wisdom that all our ancient stories carry.
This is a monthly gathering to share our ancestral stories and to look into the layers of understanding and teachings that they offer. The myths will be predominately of Indo-European origins, in an attempt to uncover the remaining vestiges of an intact, land-based culture and spirituality, indigenous to that landscape.
As settlers on this land, we recognize the importance of searching within our own origins for a culture worth living for, that we may come to the table of reconciliation free from the hunger of spiritual poverty. We will find, remaining within these old stories, whispers of profound beauty that touch our deepest longings, nourish our souls, and offer us guidance towards a life of reverence and reciprocity.

Cari Burdett Music
2016 Winner, Vocalist of the Year, VIMA
2015 WCMA Nomination, World Album of the Year
‘Burdett’ style fuses jazz from the 40’s to art song and gypsy blending songs effortlessly in five languages that tap into deep veins of emotion.
British Columbia chanteuse, Cari Burdett, performs a timeless, genre-defying,
european fusion of opera, folk, jazz and world music. Burdett cites Edith Piaf, Joni Mitchell, Lhasa De Sela, Nina Simone, Maureen Forrester, Mecedes Sosa, Rhiannon Giddens as inuences. Her live show is musically moving from language to language, features her original compositions and sensual songs that express the vulnerable heart. The show is theatrical, virtuosic and at times impromptu.
About Cari
Cari Burdett lives through music, as anyone who has spent five minutes with her immediately understands. Her life’s path winds through a garden of music studies and teaching, performance and improvisation.
Through her rich musical background, Cari aims to instill joy and appreciation for music in her students, using her extensive knowledge and skills.
