An intimate evening of sound and renewal is unfolding this May at the Lila Yurt.

On May 8th, local vocalists Cari Burdett and Sara Marreiros come together—after time apart—to share a deeply felt offering of voice, harmony, and crystal singing bowls. Answering a shared creative calling, the two artists reunite to co-create a living soundscape that invites the community into rest, reflection, and reconnection.

Held in honour of the Great Mother, and arriving just before Mother’s Day, this gathering is open to all. It offers a space to slow down, to listen inwardly, and to be gently held in sound. Blending intuitive vocal harmonies with the resonant tones of crystal bowls, the experience moves beyond performance into something immersive and restorative.

There is growing understanding around the effects of sound on the body and nervous system. Gentle, sustained tones—like those of crystal singing bowls—can support relaxation by encouraging slower brainwave states, while the human voice, especially in harmony, can evoke a sense of safety, connection, and emotional release. Together, these elements may help reduce stress, deepen breathing, and invite the body into a more regulated, receptive state.

Sound has a way of reaching where words cannot. Through vibration and tone, the body softens, the mind settles, and the nervous system recalibrates. Nothing is required but presence—no experience, no expectation—only a willingness to receive.
