Does your child enjoy music—singing, moving, or experimenting with sound? From the earliest years, children are naturally drawn to rhythm and melody. Music and song are not only fun, but also a powerful way to nurture joy, confidence, and connection.
Singing as Connection
When parents sing with their children, something magical happens. Children feel comforted and supported, learning not through correction but through joyful imitation. They soak in the songs, carry them home, and sing them freely in their own time. Singing together strengthens the bond between parent and child, while also fostering confidence, self-expression, and the simple joy of music.
The Benefits of Singing
Singing and music in childhood bring many benefits:
- Builds courage and teaches children to take healthy risks
- Develops teamwork and discipline
- Encourages self-expression in a safe, playful way
- Strengthens language, memory, and focus
- Boosts well-being and joy
Parents often remark that even children who seem quiet in class sing all week long at home. Music is absorbed naturally when the focus is on fun and connection rather than performance.
Our Programs at Lila Music Centre
At Lila Music Centre, we believe song is everyone’s birthright. This fall, we are offering two joyful opportunities to bring more music into your family and community life:
- Parent & Child Music Program
Six weeks starting October 14, Tuesday mornings, 9:30–12:00.
A relaxed and inspiring class for parents and children to sing, move, and share music together. - Community Choir
Starting October 7.
Open to all ages, our choir celebrates the joy of voices joined in harmony. No experience needed—just a love of singing!
Singing Is for Everyone
You don’t need to be “a singer” to enjoy these programs. In the words of a Zimbabwean proverb:
“If you can walk, you can dance. If you can talk, you can sing.”
Singing together is one of the most beautiful gifts parents can give to their children—and communities can give to one another.
